On Wednesday, July 8, Philadelphia’s dynamic modern ballet troupe, BalletX, will open Summer Series 2015.

This Wednesday, July 8, BalletX, the city’s premier modern ballet company, will debut its summer show at the Wilma Theater.
Summer Series 2015 will close BalletX’s 2014-2015 season with three works by choreographer Adam Hougland, a Juilliard School-trained performer. The performance will consist of one world-premiere work featuring live music by Chris Kasper, a local singer-songwriter, and two performances that the dance troupe has performed in previous years — Risk of Flight and Mashup.
Risk of Flight is a work from 2007 that debuted during BalletX’s first season as The Wilma’s resident dance company. The piece calls on winding choreography to tell the story of the contrast between light and dark. Mashup is an over-the-top ’80s-themed work that features a fusion performance of ballet, jazz and tap to songs like Super Freak and Like a Virgin.
Beyond the actual performance, Summer Series 2015 continues The X-Process, an interactive experience for the audience. On July 8, guests can enjoy Conversations with the Artists and on July 11, guests can take part in A Pie, A Pint, & The Process, an interactive lecture.
Summer Series 2015 opens on Wednesday, July 8 at 8 p.m. and continues through Sunday, July 12. Tickets are $22 for students, $30 for seniors and $35 for adults.
