Free performing arts is the theme of the evening at Independence Mall this Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. as Opera on the Mall returns for its sixth year with free musical fun for folks of all ages.

This year, Opera on the Mall features Puccini's beloved and final opera Turandot. The show tells the fictional story of Princess Turandot, a strict leader in China, and a tale of forbidden romance. Opera on the Mall is a free, HD broadcast of Opera Philadelphia's performance of Turandot at the Academy of Music.
Festival Activities
For maximum enjoyment, guests can spread out in the grass to allow for maximum comfort throughout the show - attendees of Opera on the Mall are encouraged to pack a picnic dinner and a blanket or a low beach chair. Even four-legged friends can tag along, as long as they stay leashed throughout the performance.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m and showtime is at 7 p.m. Before the show starts, guests can enjoy a free photo booth, a special Snapchat filter, video interviews with the cast of Turandot and more. The first 1,000 guests to arrive receive a free seat cushion, too.
